Auto Lease Calculator

Estimate monthly lease payment and total cost. Enter values in local currency. For APR -> money factor conversion use APR (%) and toggle conversion.

Notes: Money factor ≈ APR ÷ 2400. Depreciation = (Cap Cost - Residual) ÷ Term. Finance charge = (Cap Cost + Residual) × Money Factor.

 Enter Your Lease Details:

The vehicle's MSRP is $_______. If the sale price is lower than the MSRP, it will be $_______. Lease Term: _______ months (typically 24–36 months)

Down Payment: $_______ (optional; often $0–$5,000)

 Trade-In Value: $_______ (if applicable)

 *(e.g., 0.0025 = 6% APR)* Money Factor (Interest Rate): Residual Value %: _______ (e.g., 60% after 3 years)

 Calculate Your Lease:

The cost per month is $_______. 💰 Total Lease Cost: $_______ (monthly × term + fees)

 📉 Mileage Limit: _______ miles/year (standard: 10,000–15,000)

(How much you’ll pay over the lease term!)

 How It Works:

 Key Formula:

 Monthly Payment = (Depreciation + Interest) + Taxes/Fees

Depreciation = (Sale Price - Residual Value) ÷ Lease Term

Interest = (Sale Price + Residual Value) × Money Factor

 Example (2024 Toyota Camry LE):

 $28,000 (MSRP) vs. $26,000 (Sale Price) Term: 36 months | Residual: 60% ($16,800)

 Money Factor: 0.0025 (~6% APR) | $0 Down

 Monthly Payment: ~$350

 Total 3-Year Cost: $12,600 + fees

 Key Factors Affecting Payments:

 ✔ Residual Value %: Higher % = Lower payments.

✔ Money Factor: Lower = Better (convert to APR by × 2,400).

✔ Down Payment: Reduces monthly cost but increases risk if car is totaled.

Leasing's Benefits and Drawbacks: ✅ Pros:

 Lower monthly payments vs. buying.

Every few years, buy a new car. Covered under warranty (fewer repair costs).

 ❌ Cons:

No title (you return the vehicle). Limits on mileage (excess fees: $0.15–$0.30 per mile). Early termination penalties.

 Try It:

$30,000 vehicle, 36 months, 60% remaining, $_______ per month $40,000 vehicle, 24 months, 55% remaining, $_______ per month (Keep in mind that there may be acquisition and disposition fees of between $300 and $500.) Tip: Always negotiate the sale price (not monthly payment) and ask for the money factor to compare deals!
