 How to Use a Calculator for GPA Enter the grades and credit hours for each course. (Note: Different institutions may use different scales, like 5.0 or 10.0.) Change Letter Grades into their numerical counterparts (for example, A = 4.0). Divide the number of credit hours by the grade points for each course.
